Matches and Lighters: Perhaps one of the most important lesson parents can teach their children about fire safety is that matches and lighters are TOOLS, not toys, and should only be used by adults.

Children are typically curious about fire and research suggests that most children, boys and girls, will experiment with fire at some point.

Children will often do this in secluded locations such as their bedrooms, closets, garages, etc.

A small fire can grow to uncontrollable size in just seconds. To help prevent your child from getting burned or worse, keep ALL matches and lighters out of reach at all times.  A book of matches or a lighter sitting on a table or next to the stove often is all it takes to tempt a youngster to impulsively pick it up and use it.  If you find that your child has been "playing" with fire, please contact us so that we can set up a time to meet and educate him/her to pick other, safer, activities.
